From ancient Greece to Viking Age Denmark, people honored the heroes whose lives blessed their lands. The monuments on the Capitol Mall are a place where people from every background remember and invoke them. But Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, the Roosevelts and Martin Luther King Jr. are only a few of the leaders, of every ethnicity and gender, who have fought for the rights of the citizens of our land. We have the magic! In a time when our country is polarized by factions and hate, let’s use it to work with our ancestors of the spirit for protection and healing.
